Mofile Privacy Policy
Mofile is a file explorer and file-sync app by Gimme Games Studios. It is built self-hosted-first: your files and your credentials are yours, and this policy is short because the app collects almost nothing.
The pledge
- No ads.
- No telemetry, no analytics, no crash-reporting SDKs — ever. The app contains no code that phones home.
- Nothing leaves your device except (a) file transfers you configure and (b) feedback you explicitly send.
Data the app stores on your device
- Server credentials (for the Nextcloud/WebDAV accounts you add): stored only on your device, encrypted at rest (AES-256, keys held in the Android keystore). They are transmitted only to the server they belong to, over the connection you configured. Removing an account permanently deletes its credentials and every cached file and record tied to it.
- Sync metadata (file listings, sync history, transfer history, bookmarks): stored in a local database on your device. Never uploaded anywhere.
- Browse caches (remote listings, thumbnails, files you open for viewing): size-capped local caches, purged when you remove the account.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of the above.
Data in transit
File contents and file metadata travel only between your device and the servers you add (your own Nextcloud/WebDAV server or one you have an account on). Gimme Games Studios operates no server in that path, has no access to your files, and cannot see your file names, contents, or activity. Connections use the security of the URL you configure; the app warns before allowing a non-HTTPS connection and pins server certificates on first use.
Feedback (the only data you can send us)
The in-app "Send Feedback" flow is entirely user-initiated:
- You write the message; optionally you attach a redacted diagnostics report (credentials and personal identifiers are stripped before it is built).
- You see the exact payload — byte-for-byte what will be sent — before you tap Send. Nothing is sent without that tap.
- Feedback is used only to fix problems and improve the app, and is deleted when no longer needed for that purpose.
Permissions
- All-files access (
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) — Mofile is a file manager; this is what lets it show and sync your folders. Used for nothing else. - Notifications — sync progress and error/attention notifications only.
- Network — talking to the servers you configure.
- Foreground service (data sync) — keeps an active transfer alive while it runs; stops immediately when the transfer completes.
What we never do
No sale or sharing of data (there is nothing to sell). No profiling. No third-party data processors. No children-directed content or collection. The free features never move behind the paywall, and payment itself is handled entirely by Google Play — we never see your payment details.
Your controls
- Remove an account → its credentials, caches, and transfer records are purged immediately.
- Uninstall → everything local is gone.
- Feedback removal requests: contact us and we delete it.
